Restaurant Research - Millie's Cookies

Millie's Cookies - Cookie bar

https://www.milliescookies.com/

Millie's Cookies first opened in 1985, and today they now have 108 stores nationwide. They now offer muffins, cakes, ice creams, smoothies and shakes, hot chocolate, tea and coffee as well as cookies.

The Name and Logo
I really like this design as it is so simple, yet fun at the same time, The two different typefaces creates a legible design, With no imagery, yet it looks enticing. The pink typeface reminds me of pink icing, whereas the brown typeface reminds me of a cosy lounge. I love the colour theme, especially for the background design, as it is simple, yet eye catching. Like I said about the name, the brown reminds me of a cosy restaurant, then the pink reminds me of a bright, tasty cookie and the blue creates a refreshing feeling. The difference in the width of the stripes creates a funky vibe, showing that the company is interesting, focusing on all ages. The difference in the widths shows me that they started small and that they offered very little to the customers, however now they have over 100 stores and selling a bigger range of products, which is shown from the wider stripes. I do think however, that they could include an illustration on a cookie in one of the corners of the name design, which would show more interest for the younger customers.

The valentine's logo
I feel that this typical design is really cute and eye catching, as the letter 'O' is shown by hearts instead. This makes the design different from any other design. It is a quirky idea, giving the typeface a cute and sweet characteristic, which can also relate to how sweet and yummy their products are.

The cookie bar - Exterior
I adore this design for the exterior, as it looks funky and so eye catching, The colours stick with the theme, and are bright, meaning customers all ages would be interested instantly. The name is large and easy to read from far away, meaning that it is easily recognisable the target market. The stall is set up so everything that is on offer is easy to see, making it easily noticeable.

because it creates a more cosy feel. Each element worked really well with the colour theme, however on this design, the type is harder to read and the overall feeling comes across as murky. I do love the fact that the colours of the typeface for the name is a lot brighter. showing that it comes across as bolder and more eye catching.

This design is a lot more appropriate for both genders, meaning the sales hopefully increases, however I don't like the shade of the negative space as it creates a boring, dull atmosphere. I love the new layout, as it includes illustrations of the cookies, which is the main product that they are selling.  I don't think that the negative space works well with the colour theme or the text colour as it takes away the cute and funky feeling, making it less eye catching.

The Typeface
I think that the typeface design is beautifully designed, especially how well it works with the colour theme. The design is very personal as no other company has this design. I love the fact that each individual character has its own design and colour theme, because it means that it creates a cosy feeling and adopts cute, funky characteristics.

The Packaging
I feel that the packaging is very funky, and instantly catches my attention. The colours and the overall design link with the corporate identity, meaning that it is instantly recognisable. The small amount of illustrations creates a personality for the company, making the target audience drawn in. The idea of designing different packaging ideas is great, because it means that the customers are able to take away the products. It is also a great way for the company to advertise their products, gaining more customers. Each different packaging idea links to the next.
